01 — Who it's for

You're not a software business. That's the point.

We're especially interested in businesses from non-technical spaces: the ones nobody has ever bothered to build decent software for.

02 — What we look at

The processes, not the pitch.

01

Where the time goes

We go through your most time-consuming processes step by step, with the people who actually do them. Not how the process is supposed to work, but how it really happens, workarounds and all. That's usually where the time is hiding.

02

Off-the-shelf first

For most processes there's already a tool that does the job well, and often it costs less than a round of coffees a month. If one of those fits, we'll say so, and tell you which one and why. We don't build things that already exist.

03

Custom where it earns its keep

Sometimes your process is unusual enough that off-the-shelf software only fits about sixty per cent of it, and the other forty is where all the time goes. That's when something custom makes sense, and we'll explain roughly what it would involve and cost.

04

Joining up what you already have

A lot of busywork is just information being carried between tools by hand. Where your existing tools can be connected so it moves itself, we'll show you how, and whether it's something you could set up yourselves.

05

Written up in plain English

You get a short write-up: what we found, what we'd change, roughly what each option costs, and what we'd do first. No jargon, no fifty-page report, and nothing that only makes sense if you hire us.

03 — Who we've done this for

Businesses that make things, not software.

Career coaching

Clients, sessions, follow-ups.

Enquiries, discovery calls, booking, session notes, invoicing and the follow-up emails in between. Lots of small steps, each done by hand, for every single client.

Food production

Orders, stock, labels, deliveries.

Orders arriving in three different ways, stock tracked on paper or a spreadsheet, labels and delivery notes retyped from the order, and nobody sure what's short until it's gone.

Ecology consultancy

Surveys, reports, deadlines.

Site visits, survey data, photos and report writing, with planning deadlines and seasonal windows to keep track of across a lot of projects at once.

Outdoor activities

Bookings, forms, rotas, weather.

Group bookings, consent forms and medical information, instructor rotas, kit, and the reshuffle every time the forecast changes. All of it managed from an inbox.

Different businesses, same pattern: skilled people spending their week on admin instead of the work that pays.

04 — How it works

An hour or two, start to finish.

1

Get in touch

Use the form below. Tell us what the business does, where you're based and which processes eat the most time. A few lines is plenty.

2

We arrange a session

If you're in or near Norwich we'll come to you, because seeing the process happen beats hearing about it. Further afield, we do it over a video call with a screen share.

3

We go through the processes

An hour or two with you, and ideally with whoever does the work day to day. We ask a lot of questions, watch how things actually happen and take notes.

4

You get the recommendations

A short written summary of what we'd change, what we'd use to do it, roughly what it costs and what to do first. Then it's yours to act on however you like.

05 — The small print

Sensible recommendations only.

What you get

An honest answer.

If the right answer is a tool that costs twenty pounds a month, we'll tell you that. If the right answer is to change nothing, we'll tell you that too.

  • A clear view of where the time is actually going
  • The most cost-effective fix for each process, not the most expensive
  • Rough costs for every option, including the ones that don't involve us
  • A written summary you can share with your team

What it isn't

A sales call in disguise.

We do this because it's the best way to find the businesses we can genuinely help, and because the ones we can't help still deserve a straight answer.

  • No charge, no invoice, no “free for the first hour”
  • No obligation to do anything with the recommendations
  • No pressure to hire us, and no follow-up chasing if you don't
  • Nothing you can't take to another developer

The aim is to free up your time for the parts of the business only you can do.

06 — FAQ

Things people ask us.

Is it really free?

Yes. No charge for the session, no charge for the write-up, and nothing to sign. Some of the businesses we audit go on to work with us, and plenty don't. Either is fine.

Do we need to be near Norwich?

No. If you're in or around Norwich we'll happily come to you, because watching a process happen in the room is the quickest way to understand it. Anywhere else, we do it over a video call with you sharing your screen, which works nearly as well.

What do we need to prepare?

Very little. Have a think about which two or three processes take the most time, and if possible have the person who actually does them in the room. It helps to be able to show us the spreadsheet, the inbox or the paperwork involved.

How long does it take?

Usually an hour or two of your time for the session. The written recommendations follow within a few days.

What if the answer is off-the-shelf software?

Then that's the answer, and we'll tell you which tool and how we'd set it up. We'd rather point you at the right £20-a-month subscription than build something you don't need. The businesses that do need something custom tend to find us anyway, and they trust us more for having been straight with them.

We're a tiny business. Is it still worth it?

Often more so. In a small business the admin falls on the same one or two people who do everything else, so freeing up a few hours a week makes a bigger difference than it would anywhere else.

Will you keep our information confidential?

Yes. Anything we see or hear during the audit stays between us. We don't share client details, and we're happy to sign an NDA first if you'd prefer. See our privacy policy for how we handle what you send us.
