Development · Automation · Training · UK-based, building worldwide
Sensible Systems does two things. We design and build websites, apps and automations for businesses. And we train non-technical teams to build their own. Either way, you end up with software you understand, own and can change.
Pick your path ↓01 · Built by us
Websites, apps, automations and SaaS products, designed and built by us. You bring the brief, we deliver the build, with documentation and a proper handover.
02 · Built by you
Hands-on workshops that turn the loosely technical people on your team into the ones who automate the busywork and build the internal tools.
We're tired of agencies building software nobody uses. We build software your team actually uses, understands and maintains. We aim to be the last developers you'll ever hire.
01 — How we work
Hire us to build
We design and build it, test it against your real data, and hand it over properly. Documentation, training and support come as standard, so what we build keeps working after we leave.
Learn to build
We train the loosely technical people on your team, the ones who already build clever spreadsheets, to build and maintain their own tools. Day-to-day changes stop needing an outside developer.
02 — Our work
Hey,
I've been building software for over a decade, and teaching people to build it for the last five years.
In that time I've noticed something nobody in this industry likes to talk about. A huge amount of software gets paid for, built, delivered, and then never used. The code usually worked. The problem was that the people it was built for never understood it.
That's the problem Sensible Systems exists to fix, and we come at it from two sides.
Some things deserve a professional build. A customer-facing app, a SaaS product, a system your whole business runs on. Experience matters there, in the hundred small decisions that separate software that lasts from software that limps along. We build those ourselves, and we hand them over with documentation and training so you're never left with something only we understand.
The day-to-day automations and internal tools are a different story. The person drowning in the spreadsheet understands that problem better than any outside developer ever will, and with today's AI tools, the loosely technical people on your team can learn to build and maintain these themselves. So we teach them.
If every small business had just one person with these skills, the impact on productivity would be enormous.
None of this replaces people. A good system takes care of the busywork so your team can spend their time on the high-value, human parts of the work. The parts a computer shouldn't touch.
Whichever side fits, the goal is the same. Software that makes sense to the people who use it.
Thanks for reading. If any of this rings true, we'd love to hear from you.
03 — FAQ
Small and mid-sized companies drowning in repetitive admin. If your team spends hours every week on emails, spreadsheets and copying data between systems, there's almost certainly something worth automating or worth building.
It depends what you need and how fast you need it. If there's a clear brief and a deadline, hire us to build it. If the bigger win is your team handling their own automations from now on, start with a workshop. Plenty of clients do both, and the easiest way to work out which fits is a short email to us.
The latest AI and visual development tools, including Claude Code, Cowork, Zapier, n8n and Lovable. Wherever possible we build on tools you already pay for, and we avoid anything that locks you in.
That's the thing we work hardest to avoid. Every build comes with documentation and training, and our preferred way of working builds your team's own skills alongside it. The goal is always that you don't need us for the next one.
Our headquarters are in Norwich, UK — a beautiful historic city in East Anglia, with a Norman castle, a thousand-year-old cathedral, winding medieval streets and more independent shops, pubs and markets than just about anywhere in the country. That said, we work with clients worldwide, and in fact the majority of ours are based in the US. Most of what we do happens over email and video, so where you're sitting has never really been the point.
